Internet2 at the 2024 Cybersecurity and Privacy Professionals Conference

We are fortunate that this year continues to present so many fantastic opportunities to meet you where you are. Those opportunities include not only Internet2-hosted events but also other important cloud and information security gatherings for the research and education community.

Join Internet2 at the 2024 Cybersecurity and Privacy Professionals Conference (CPPC) (opens in a new window), May 1-3 in Minneapolis. CPPC is a gathering hosted by EDUCAUSE for professionals in higher education information security and privacy.
Internet2 will participate in several sessions at this year’s conference, including two pre-conference workshops on May 1 and two breakout sessions.
- Putting the Pro (and the Cure!) in Procurement: Third-Party Security and Privacy Reviews (opens in a new window) (separate registration required) – Jay Gallman at Duke University, Nick Lewis at Internet2, Alexander Magid at Clark University, Pegah Parsi at the University of California San Diego, and Andy Weisskopf at the University of Delaware will lead this workshop to engage participants in exploring the intricacies of privacy, security, and accessibility in procurement processes.
- An Introduction to Cloud Security Assessments Using HECVAT (opens in a new window) (separate registration required) – Josh Callahan at California State University, Charlie Escue at Indiana University, and Nick Lewis at Internet2 will lead this workshop, introducing attendees to using HECVAT to assess the security of cloud services.
- HECVAT 2024 Updates (opens in a new window) – Josh Callahan at California State University, Charlie Escue at Indiana University, and Nick Lewis at Internet2 will provide an update on the latest activities of the HECVAT, including new guidance documents and resources.
- We Put the Community in Cyberinfrastructure: How InCommon and NET+ Support Security Professionals (opens in a new window) – Sean O’Brien and Ann West at Internet2 will discuss how InCommon and NET+ can help IT and security professionals improve their cybersecurity posture.
Join Our Happy Hour Meetup
Networking opportunities are key to building community and fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in cybersecurity and privacy. Internet2 is hosting a Happy Hour Meetup Reception (opens in a new window) at 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 1. Join us to engage with fellow professionals, share experiences, and build meaningful connections. This is also a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the programs and services offered by Internet2 to support the cybersecurity and privacy community.
