Thank you for joining the Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) for a free workshop on advancing teaching and research through administrative dialogue and IT strategic planning on June 22, 2023. The workshop was held at Lecture Hall 1126 in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions building on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus in Princess Anne, Maryland. Registration is FREE for MS-CC participants and is open through June 16, 2023.

This workshop aimed to engage participants in an administrative dialogue on the importance of IT for research (cyberinfrastructure) for campus leadership and faculty at HBCUs. Furthermore, we will spotlight the role of grant funding agencies in engaging and motivating campuses around education and research programs.
The workshop is funded by the NSF OAC 2137123 awarded to the Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) and Internet2.
MS-CC Workshop Series
The workshop at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is the second workshop the MS-CC and Internet2 are planning at HBCU and TCU campuses throughout 2023. The first workshop in the 2023 series took place March 21-22, 2023, at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Registration Details
Registration
The workshop is free for MS-CC participants, but registration is required. The MS-CC is utilizing Internet2’s event registration system.
What to expect as part of your registration process:
- You will be prompted to submit your name, job title, job function, institution, email address, and mailing address.
- You will also be prompted to indicate whether you plan on joining the Tuesday evening reception hosted by the MS-CC.
- You will be prompted to submit meal preferences, allergies, special needs, and emergency contact information. Protected health information (PHI) provided with this registration will be safeguarded by Internet2 from unauthorized disclosure.
- You will be prompted to complete Internet2’s Event Registration Privacy Policy. Internet2 values your privacy and gives you an opportunity to opt out of lists.
- You will be prompted to read and agree to Internet2’s Events Code of Conduct and Participant Consent.
- Once these prompts are completed, you will get notified immediately that your submission was successful and that an email confirmation has been sent to the email address you registered with.
- In your inbox, you will find two registration email confirmations: an enrollment confirmation email and a receipt number confirmation email.
- The receipt number confirmation email provides a summary of the information you submitted in the registration form. Please verify your information is correct and appears as you want it to appear on your workshop badge.
- The enrollment confirmation email will provide information about confirming your registration using Internet2’s identity and access management system. This additional step is optional. If you do not complete this step, you will still be registered for the workshop.

Parking
There will be parking available at the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions building on the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Campus.
Reimbursement
As an MS-CC participant from an HBCU or TCU, we will be able to reimburse reasonable mileage (500 miles or less roundtrip) and lodging expenses for participants that reside greater than 60 miles from the host campus. If you are eligible for travel support, you will receive additional information via email about the expense reimbursement process after your registration is processed.

Participation in the MS-CC helps us create a vibrant community of practice where peers can collaborate and support one another, and build a coalition to advocate for their needs as a community.
What Workshop Participants Can Expect
The goal of this workshop is to encourage, educate, and empower our HBCU community participants with tools and resources on how to engage and motivate your campus around science drivers. We will provide an overview of IT for research, commonly referred to as “cyberinfrastructure” by federal funding agencies, and why it is so important to your campus, your faculty, and your grant funding.

Workshop participants will need to abide by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s COVID-19 guidelines while participating in the workshop.

The MS-CC is following the events code of conduct that Internet2 requires at its events.
