InCommon to Host Cybersecurity Cooperation Exercise This Fall

As part of its ongoing effort to increase cross-federation levels of trust in cybersecurity, InCommon is hosting its fourth annual Sirtfi cybersecurity cooperation exercise this fall.

The event, held Nov. 17-21, 2025, is open to InCommon participants and eduGAIN partners. Participants will practice coordinating a response to a federated security incident by running a multi-organization, federated incident response exercise.

Organizations interested in participating in this exercise need to complete the expression of interest form by Sept. 30, 2025.

Many exciting things are happening with Grouper at university campuses across the country. At TechEX25, held this year Dec. 8-12, in Denver, Colo., there are a handful of sessions that highlight some innovative Grouper solutions.

Ahead of TechEX25, Chris Hyzer, Grouper Lead at Internet2, shared some can’t-miss sessions and workshops for anyone who works with (or is curious about) Grouper.

5 Considerations for Navigating Hybrid IAM and Entra ID Implementation

In early August, InCommon community members gathered for an InCommon Thread Meetup, “Navigating Hybrid Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Entra ID Implementation,” to discuss Entra ID deployment strategies.

The most significant lesson learned from the community discussion was that organizations should approach Entry ID implementation as an integration of both traditional and cloud identity systems.

If you’re undertaking your own Entra ID implementation journey, check out these five key takeaways from the InCommon Thread Meetup.
