Tripti Sinha

Tripti Sinha is the President and CEO of Internet2, where she champions the organization’s core mission of enabling U.S. higher education and research institutions to collaborate on mission-critical technology services.

Sinha is a leader in information technology, operations, governance, and policy, with a career spanning more than three decades dedicated to advancing cyberinfrastructure and internet technologies in research and education. 

Before joining Internet2 on Oct. 15, 2025, Sinha held two leadership roles at the University of Maryland: Assistant Vice President and Chief Technology Officer within the Division of Information Technology, and Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), a regional research and education network. In these roles, she supported advanced, high-performance networking and research technologies, including GPU compute infrastructure optimized for AI workloads. She was also actively involved in investigating evolving quantum networking technologies.

Sinha is internationally recognized for her leadership in internet governance, particularly in the stewardship of the technical foundations of the global internet’s unique identifier systems and collaboration across related sectors. 

She is frequently invited to deliver keynotes and participate in panels at national and global forums, including the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) Task Force, the United Nations’ Internet Governance Forum (IGF), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the United Nations’ World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). 

Sinha has served on many nonprofit and private sector technology advisory boards. She currently serves as Chair of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Board of Directors. She is also a past Chair of The Quilt’s Board of Directors and a former Co-Chair of ICANN’s Root Server System Advisory Committee.

Sinha received her undergraduate degree in computer science from Smith College and completed graduate work in computer science at the University of Maryland. She holds executive education certificates from Harvard Kennedy School in Public Leadership and Policy, and a certificate in Global Innovation and Execution from Stanford University.
