Internet2 is collaborating with the Practice and Experience in Advanced Research Computing (PEARC26) conference to fund approximately 15 bridge grants for individuals from Internet2 member institutions to attend the conference.

The PEARC26 Bridge Grant program is designed to help people who face financial or institutional barriers to attending, including those whose travel funding has been reduced or eliminated, as well as participants from institutions that are underrepresented at PEARC. Early-career professionals are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications are open now, and the deadline to apply is April 30, 2026. Visit the PEARC26 Travel Grant Opportunities page for full details and to submit your application.

What is PEARC26?

Many in the Internet2 community may not be familiar with PEARC. It is the premier conference for research computing and data (RCD) professionals.

The PEARC Conference Series is a community-driven forum for the people who make research computing work at research and higher education (R&E) institutions:

  • System administrators
  • Research facilitators
  • Software engineers
  • Data librarians
  • Students interested in these and related careers

Sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery, PEARC convenes RCD practitioners from R&E, government, and industry to share challenges, solutions, and practical experience.

This year’s program includes peer-reviewed papers, workshops, tutorials, panels, an exhibit hall, and a robust student program. This year’s theme is “Resilient Roots, Empowered Communities,” and PEARC26 is the tenth annual PEARC conference.

PEARC26 takes place July 26-30 in Minneapolis, MN. Learn more at pearc.acm.org/pearc26.

About the Bridge Grants

Internet2 recognizes that many institutions face financial constraints that prevent their RCD staff from attending professional conferences. Travel budgets have been reduced or eliminated at many schools, and some institutions lack resources to send their teams to events.

The PEARC26 Bridge Grant program is open to anyone facing financial or institutional barriers to attendance. Priority is given to early-career RCD professionals, first-time PEARC attendees, and individuals from institutions that are underrepresented at PEARC or that have seen travel funding reduced or eliminated.

Internet2’s contribution will support approximately 15 grants for individuals from member institutions, with each grant covering registration, travel, and lodging costs.

Spread the Word

If you supervise or lead RCD staff at an Internet2 member institution, please pass this along to your team members. And if you’re an early-career professional or student working in research computing and data, we encourage you to apply.

Every institution that runs a cluster, supports researchers in the cloud, manages research data, or facilitates access to national cyberinfrastructure depends on RCD professionals. Supporting their participation at PEARC is an investment in the people who do this work every day.
