MS-CC Gearing Up for Fall 2022 Events, Workshops, and Public Engagements

We’re looking forward to participating in upcoming engagement opportunities these next few months to discuss the work of the Minority Serving – Cyberinfrastructure Consortium (MS-CC) to promote advanced cyberinfrastructure capabilities on the campuses of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), tribal colleges and universities (TCUs), and other minority-serving institutions (MSIs).

• Sept. 16: “CI Training” panel participation during the NSF Large Facilities Office (LFO) Research Infrastructure Workshop in Boulder, Colorado.
• Sept. 19: MS-CC and Internet2 gathering for HBCU leadership in Washington, D.C. ahead of HBCU Week.
• Sept. 20-22: MS-CC participation and presentation during the Annual National HBCU Week Conference.
• Sept. 21: presentation at the 2022 NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC*) PI Workshop.
• Oct. 25: participation at the Internet2 Leadership EXchange.
• Oct. 26: panel presentation at EDUCAUSE.
• Nov. 1-2: MS-CC Cyberinfrastructure and Cybersecurity Workshop at Jackson State University.
• Dec. 6: lunch-and-learn session at 2022 Internet2 Technology Exchange.
• Monthly MS-CC All Hands Meetings: Sept. 29 and Oct. 27.

September 2022

The MS-CC team has a busy yet exciting month in September! Starting on September 16, Ana Hunsinger, vice president of Community Engagement at Internet2, will be participating in a panel during the NSF LFO 2022 Research Infrastructure Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. Joining her on the panel are Brian Dobbins with the National Center for Atmospheric Research; Tim Cockerill with Texas Advanced Computing Center; and Margaret Levenstein with the Research Data Ecosystem. The MS-CC has been invited to participate in a panel discussion on September 21 at 11:05 a.m. CT in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the National Science Foundation Campus Cyberinfrastructure PI Workshop. Ana Hunsinger, Vice President of Community Engagement for Internet2, is participating in the panel along with Franklin Fondjo-Fotou from Langston University; Sharlene Harris from the University of Virgin Islands; Sohel Quazi from Texas College, and Dale Smith from the American Indian Higher Education Consortium. From Minneapolis to Washington, D.C., MS-CC Director Lawrence Williams is delivering a presentation during the annual 2022 National HBCU Week Conference on September 22 at 11:30 a.m. ET. Lawrence’s presentation is focusing on the importance of supporting HBCUs by enhancing campus technology, building communities, providing funding support, and providing professional development opportunities. The day before the National HBCU Week Conference kicks off, Internet2 and the MS-CC will convene a group of HBCU leaders – presidents, chancellors, vice presidents of research, vice presidents of teaching and learning, and chief information officers – for a special gathering on Sept. 19 focused on advancing cyberinfrastructure for HBCUs. The gathering will bring together HBCU leadership, MS-CC leadership, and Internet2 Trustees to learn more about the Internet2 and MS-CC partnership. 

October 2022

You’ll find the MS-CC in Denver, Colorado in October. First at the Internet2 Leadership EXchange on Oct.25 where members of the Consortium Leadership Council, or CLC, will be meeting colleagues ahead of their participation at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference. Then on Oct.26, MS-CC Director Lawrence Williams will deliver a presentation during EDUCAUSE on the MS-CC’s work to advance cyberinfrastructure on campuses through a partnership model. November 2022

November takes us to Jackson, Mississippi, where the MS-CC will deliver the third in its series of Cyberinfrastructure and Cybersecurity workshops at Jackson State University from Nov. 1-2, 2022. We are in the process of finalizing the workshop details, so be sure to visit our workshops web page often where updates will be posted soon.

December 2022

As we wrap up a busy and exciting year for the MS-CC, you’ll find us back in Denver, Colorado, this time at the 2022 Internet2 Technology Exchange. The MS-CC is planning a lunch-and-learn session. We’ll have a panel discussion comprised of MS-CC member institutions representing both HBCUs and TCUs, who will share their perspectives and experiences with cyberinfrastructure capabilities for their campus campuses.
