CLASS Certification Learning Pathway: Internet2 Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Architect Certification Training Begins May 22
By Amanda Tan - Internet2 Research Engagement Program Manager
The next cohort of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Professional Cloud Architect Certification training begins on Monday, May 22, 2023. The course runs for nine weeks, ending on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Through a cohort-based approach, participants will build foundational cloud computing knowledge and cement that knowledge using hands-on labs to help prepare them for becoming a certified GCP Professional Cloud Architect. The cohort-based learning experience provides an avenue for collaboration and helps facilitate discussion about the challenges and opportunities of using GCP at higher education institutions. To ensure an engaging learning environment, each cohort is limited to 15 participants. Registration for the program is first-come-first-served with a priority given to having as many institutions participate in each cohort as possible. Organizations can register multiple attendees.
Past attendees like Kunalan Ratharanjan, a research programmer at Indiana University, have found the training quite beneficial. “The [Internet2 GCP Professional Cloud Architect Training] was very useful,” Ratharanjan said. “I learned a lot from this training and understood more specifics about some of the GCP services.”
Kenny Moore, virtualization and cloud administrator at the University of Michigan, will lead the training, which leverages training materials from Cloud Academy. Participants can expect to commit roughly 5–7 hours per week during the nine-week course and plan to participate in cohort activities, including weekly, virtual video check-in sessions.
The full cost of attending the program, including the use of the Cloud Academy licenses but not including the cost of the certification exam, is as follows:
|Category of Institution||Cost per person|
|NET+ GCP subscriber institutions||$250*|
|Internet2 members (non-NET+ GCP subscribers)||$650|
