In the Media: Expanding AI Access for Research and Education, Anthropic Joins Internet2 Community

How can AI for research and higher education (R&E) be collaborative, responsible, and inclusive, all while supporting student success at scale? 

Internet2 recently welcomed Anthropic as an industry member — coinciding with Anthropic’s launch of Claude for Education, a specialized version tailored for higher education.

The announcement was featured by EdTech Innovation Hub, highlighting how R&E institutions are exploring Claude’s applications across teaching, learning, and administrative workflows. It includes campuswide access for students at Northeastern University, Champlain College, and the London School of Economics, as well as collaborations with Instructure and the Internet2 community.

As part of this initiative, Internet2 and Anthropic also plan to begin a community-driven NET+ service evaluation. The effort underscores a shared focus on developing trusted, scalable AI solutions that align with the needs and values of the R&E community.
