Globus Foundations for Research Data Management

Explore Globus as a platform for research data management with an emphasis on its role in moving, managing, and preserving research data across diverse storage and compute environments. Participants will learn how Globus fits into the research data lifecycle — from acquisition and analysis to archiving and sharing — and how it supports reliability, integrity, and scalability at the institutional level.

Walk through core Globus services (file transfer, sharing, remote computation, research automation) and learn how they can be leveraged to support FAIR data practices and the data management and sharing requirements of federal research funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health. Participants will log into Globus, browse collections, and perform common data management tasks.

By the end of the session, attendees will understand the basic concepts and terminology of Globus and be prepared to explore more advanced topics in subsequent sessions.
