Multi-cloud is a fact of life for many in the higher education community. But that doesn’t mean all the challenges have been resolved, and many of you are at different points in your cloud journey.

Members of our community have a common goal: how to manage, monitor, and maintain robust and secure cloud environments with minimum effort and maximum impact.

We’re bringing together two universities in our upcoming webinar on March 1 at 2 p.m ET, Achieving Multi-Cloud Control and the Freedom to Innovate, to discuss the people, practices, planning, and tooling they’re using to manage their multi-cloud implementations and enable their teams to get work done. Our speakers will be Bill Bonner, director of network and cloud engineering at Washington State University, and Mark Ratliff, director for cloud infrastructure services at Princeton University.

Both institutions are leveraging the NET+ Kion service offering to help with account automation, cost management, and security monitoring across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.

Mark Ratliff

Most cloud enablement teams want to get out of the way and let their users do their work, but all institutions need to at least have an idea of what is going on in their name and their enterprise environments. They would ideally like to have visibility into inventory, security and compliance, user access, and spending optimization, etc. Working with the community, NET+ identified a service to help institutions gain the desired visibility into their users’ activities.

The Internet2 community completed the NET+ service evaluation of Kion in October 2022. Research and education institutions can now benefit from the sweat equity of the schools that conducted the service evaluation and the long-term rewards of the community of practice that we nurture around a service.
