As you prepare for the back-to-school frenzy, we invite you to review this quick update about the Internet2 NET+ Cloud Solutions program to learn about resources that may be able to equip you for the year ahead. In addition to the highlights below, check out the wiki blog and community page for more updates on NET+ programs.

New NET+ Services Launched!

There has been a lot of excitement in the NET+ program these past few months as new NET+ Services launched with a plethora of community involvement to meet emerging institutional needs. If you haven’t heard of the story around Google Workspace for Education (it wasn’t just a name change), then you missed many engaged community members coming together to act on behalf of the community and negotiate with Google. You have until December 1, 2021, to take advantage of these negotiated offers for the NET+ Google Workspace for Education Plus edition.

We also heard of the collaborative engine at work with the service evaluations for NET+ Palo Alto Networks and NET+ CloudCheckr Premium. Engaging webinars have been taking place to dive deeper into these service offerings, and we look forward to more use cases and town halls as these programs grow.

With the addition of NET+ signNow/airSlate, we have expanded to 22 NET+ services in the portfolio. As always, if you don’t see something that you really need and think could benefit from the community scale, let us know.

Did you miss NET+ GCP Summer Camp?

No worries! Recaps and recordings are available–that is almost as much fun as attending live. There is so much you can do with Google Cloud Platform throughout your campus, research, administration, teaching, and learning.

I2 Online Programming

We hope you have enjoyed the many opportunities to connect with the Internet2 community virtually over the past 16 months. We will be taking a summer hiatus in August and September to refresh our content and delivery modes. We look forward to connecting with you in many ways as the community transforms post-pandemic. Missed one of the previous sessions or the 2020 recap? Catch up with the recordings. As always, we welcome your ideas and appreciate your contributions.

Internet2 community members and staff were recently featured in a report from Carahsoft on Locking Down information Management Security on Campus. Read the full report and check out some information on the NET+ program, including:

NET+ Code42 Program Enhancements

The NET+ Code42 program completed a major program update where eligible research and education institutions can now sign-up to get the benefits of the program with an updated pricing model—that adds an enterprise license agreement option to protect all knowledge workers at a significant discount. More details can be found in this blog post.

Cloud Storage (It’s Not Going Away)

We can’t end an update without mentioning a continuing hot topic around cloud storage. What is happening and how are your peers coping with the changing landscape? In addition to addressing this with Google for our community, there is a dynamic NET+ working group organized around best practices and collaborative responses. Learn more about the Cloud Storage Working Group activity and get engaged.

You can also learn how colleagues at the University of Iowa are managing cloud storage and data retention policies through this recorded I2 Online session. We look forward to sharing more best practices across the community in the months ahead.
