Internet2 is Committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Strengthening Diversity, Inclusion in Our Community
We believe that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential for a robust and thriving research and education community. As a membership organization with a global reach, Internet2 is committed to promoting a culture that includes, encourages, supports, and celebrates diverse voices and reflects the communities it serves.

The Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative (I2I), focuses on resources, attention, and scholarships to improve diversity and inclusion in the community of networking and technical professionals.
As part of this initiative, we:
- Provide a national forum to discuss and share best practices to improve diversity and inclusion in technical fields, particularly in advanced networking, security, and identity.
- Partner with other national organizations engaged in similar work, such as the National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT), EDUCAUSE and others.
Join Us for a Celebration of I2I’s 8 Years in Community
Join us for DEI in Our Community: The Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative at 8 Years, on Thursday, April 29 from 1-2 p.m. ET. In the spring of 2013, Internet2 created the Internet2 Gender Diversity Initiative, to focus resources and attention on improving gender diversity in the community of networking professionals who convene regularly to collaborate on the development of national and international advanced networking.
In 2018, the GDI was renamed the Internet2 Inclusivity Initiative (I2) to reflect a wider scope of action and a focus on the cultural shifts the Initiative works to foster. Today, I2I celebrates 8 years by taking a look back and a look forward. I2I co-chair Laurie Burns McRobbie and three recipients of I2I scholarships will give an update and engage in conversation about where we are and where we’re going. Register today!
Speakers:
- Laurie Burns McRobbie, Indiana University
- Sarvani Chadalapaka, University of California Merced
- Nuyun Zhang (Nellie), Georgia Tech
- Bridget Bartell, University of Wisconsin – Madison
