Mike Erickson

Vice President, Community Engagement and Impact


As Vice President of Community Engagement and Impact, Mike Erickson leads Internet2’s strategy to engage, serve, and grow our national R&E stakeholder community. His responsibilities include developing and executing a comprehensive community engagement strategy aligned with Internet2’s mission, technology roadmap, and long-term strategic plan. This work maximizes the impact of Internet2 services and programs for colleges and universities across the breadth of the R&E community, Research and Education Networks (RENs), federal agencies, community anchor institutions, and industry partners. Mike also oversees grant efforts supporting the MS-CC.

Mike brings more than 35 years of leadership within the higher education and research community, most recently serving as Associate Vice President of Community Engagement at Internet2. His professional tenure includes service as Chief Information Officer at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., and as Associate VP and CIO of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.

Mike has been an active leader, presenter, and collaborator across the research and education community, serving as both a member and chair of the Board of Directors for the Kansas Research and Education Network (KanREN), and engaging extensively with EDUCAUSE. He is a 2013 graduate of the Leading Change Institute sponsored by EDUCAUSE and CLIR.

Mike currently resides in Evergreen, CO. He has a B.S. and an M.S. in Computer Science from Wichita State University, with multiple areas of emphasis, including electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
