Internet2 continues to make incremental upgrades across the Internet2 Network.

During the summer of 2019, many upgrades were made to the Network to support R&E and cloud traffic. Peering upgrades include 100G connections to Google in both Equinix Chicago and Ashburn, upgraded equipment in Ashburn and Chicago, and additional 100Gbps backbone added on the path between Ashburn and Equinix Chicago.

The team also implemented additional 100GigE backbone links between the metro New York nodes. To support expanded AWS Direct Connect service redundant 10Gbps connections were implemented in  Ashburn, Equinix Chicago, Dallas and San Jose. The core switch was replaced at MANLAN as well.
