CICP is a Cloudforce Multiplier

What does “Cloudforce Multiplier” mean?

The CICP is a community of peers which meets regularly to expand its members’ cloud expertise, capabilities, and capacities.  The CICP benefits IT leaders and their teams through:

  • Developing new skills: The CICP community, Internet2 facilitators, and experts from cloud service providers are available to answer questions – big and small – about what your institution wants to do in the cloud.
  • Accelerating cloud adoption: Leaders and their teams can offer more to their institution, more quickly thanks to knowledge from the experiences of community peers.
  • Sharing technical substance: Deep dives into AWS and GCP cloud services, problem solving, and sharing lessons learned within the community accelerates adoption, increases security, and can save money.
  • Amplify your voice: Collective and direct input to AWS and GCP can affect changes with cloud vendors.
  • Stronger cloud partner relationships: CICP engagement can drive stronger, more direct and more productive relationships between institutions and their cloud vendors

Community activities like peer discussionsworking groupsexpert presentations, joint training on timely topics are foundational to the NET+ Amazon Web Services (AWS) and NET+ Google Cloud Platform (GCP) programs and core to the CICP.

Our meetings include:

  • Regular and curated strategy discussions
  • Bi-weekly “open-mic” technology calls
  • Topical webinars
  • Deep-dives on challenges identified by members

CICP members work together to focus our voice with cloud service providers. Together, small teams and individual institutions now have an opportunity for stronger, more direct, and more productive relationships with cloud vendors.

Regular networking with other participants and subject matter experts has accelerated knowledge transfer and cloud adoption for us – and we’d like to think other schools have learned from us at the same time.

CICP Benefits & Fees

Benefits Include:

  • Apply CICP training vouchers and discounts to participate in peer training cohorts for cloud certifications, or other skills through Internet2’s Internet2 CLASS program.
  • Gain insights into your institution’s cloud deployment by participating in Internet2’s Data Benchmarking project. Compare usage data with peers, find data-driven ways to refine cloud efficiency, and identify leaders in specific cloud services to benefit from their expertise.
  • Leverage Internet2 technical consulting. CICP members can receive advice, a second opinion, pointers to resources, introductions to knowledgeable members, and other assistance to ideate on a solution, better understand an approach, or streamline an implementation from Internet2 staff.
  • Learn with and from peers and cloud experts through a variety of regularly scheduled calls and activities on topics driven by community interest.
  • Confer with AWS and GCP technical experts who actively participate in CICP calls and who are available to share insights, and call upon experts from other parts of their organizations to benefit CICP members.
  • Invite your community to participate to maximize your institution’s CICP membership – IT professionals, engineers, researchers, IT leadership, educators and students.

We have a long tradition of community in higher education by collaborating and sharing our collective knowledge. It makes working in this industry so much more interesting and rewarding. The Cloud Infrastructure Community Program completely embodies that culture. When we look to implement a new approach or want to learn more about new offerings in the cloud space, there are always people ready to offer sound advice or tell us about their lessons learned.
