The first  CLASS cohort was held in December 2020 and focused on advanced topics for onboarding research computing and data professionals to the three major cloud platforms and to build an inclusive and diverse community of practice. 

Following the success of the first cohort, the second CLASS cohort was launched in May 2021. Enrollment is open for the Fall 2021 CLASS Cohort No. 3, which begins on October 12, 2021, and will be complete by January 27. Also in the fall of 2021, Internet2 will be running foundational concepts testing and development for university professionals with limited experience using cloud platforms.

Some of the learning modules for the CLASS Advanced Cohort program include: 

• Containers and container orchestration
• Cloud Native Workflows (Batch)
• CI/CD
• AI/ML/Deep Learning Frameworks
• Cloud costing and tags
• Networking and Data Movement

The CLASS cohorts also worked closely with cloud vendors on architectural design patterns applied to real-world research problems.
