Resources for Researchers
The infrastructure, services and collaborative environment of the Internet2 community represent tremendous assets for researchers nationwide. Internet2 provides a wide range of resources that not only match the demanding requirements of today's research and development community, but empower the innovation that will grow into tomorrow's transformative technologies. These resources range from network infrastructure—dark fiber acquisition to static and dynamic circuits—to enabling middleware and advanced applications such as cloud services. Together, they create a platform reliable enough for the most exacting production applications, robust and flexible enough for the most extreme research, development and experimentation our community can imagine. The information below should get you started. For more, email email@example.com.

The Research Wave Program has been established to stimulate innovative, transformative research by providing dedicated access to Internet2 Network services at a reduced cost for a specific time period. By making it easier for researchers to mount short-term experiments, the program is expected to stimulate new ideas and innovative approaches that can then grow into fully funded projects and collaborations. For more details, read about the program components, the process for requesting waves, and the program's relationship to other Internet2 services and programs.
The Internet2 Network is a dynamic, innovative and cost-effective network-based environment especially designed to power a new generation of networking discovery and deliver next-generation production and development infrastructure and services to the research and education community. Researchers can take advantage of unprecedented scalability to manage resources efficiently and meet the bandwidth-intensive requirements of the entire range of collaborative applications—videoconferencing to global-scale distributed research, grid-based data analysis to social networking. The goal of the Performance Initiative is to create a predictable, well-supported environment for advanced Internet applications by encouraging the development and delivery of resources that enable end-to-end performance problem detection and resolution across campus, regional and national networking infrastructures.
To equip network engineers, researchers and users to gain a better understanding of the utilization and inner workings of a large-scale network infrastructure, the Observatory provides a unique and comprehensive real-time operational dataset collected from Internet2's nationwide high-performance network.
Internet2 currently provides a wide range of "above the network" services, from production and development, enabling middleware and advanced applications. Visit the Internet2 NET+ page for a list of current services of interest to the research community.
On the human side of the equation, Internet2 actively supports our community's pioneer developments and collaborations in areas ranging from research projects using overlay networks to collaborations in middleware, security and performance measurement. See our Projects page for more details.
